About

French has been  a favorite language…I learnt it as a child. My father was a diplomat, he was posted to Morocco… schooling required French…et Voila! It is  a language we speak as a  family and often indulge in when we do not want our compatriots around us to understand, since it is not our mother tongue.

I traveled the world thanks to father. I was born in Moscow… studied and traveled to England, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Zaire, to name just a few…picking up yet another language on the way!  It was a charmed life, with an exposure, view and understanding on life that few schooling systems can provide!

Through it all I knew very definitively  that I wanted to put down roots in my country of origin…Pakistan…I have ! Travel is still most enjoyable…but this is where I belong… in every sense of the word!

My family has been my greatest blessing, asset and pride…my children and theirs carry this love of kin forward and are my pride and joy! My work , interests have all now come down to…giving back to those and the country that gave me so much…it is often arduous…being a congenital optimist helps!  It is  a long way from the Opera ball in Vienna…but it is Home !

Wow, you seem to have such a rich and fascinating life! Thank you very much for stopping by my blog and for your kind comment. French is also a language I’ve spoken since I was a child, and it continues to be a language I speak with my family and my husband as well; it truly is such a beautiful language. And it seems I’ve found a fellow TCK from what I’ve read here! 🙂 I’ll definitely make sure to drop by your blog again, and I hope to hear from you again in the future!

I will also ask my sister to visit your blog since she too is a wonderful photographer and will so enjoy seeing your beautiful pictures…she and my younger brother amongst all of us, are true TCK’s…I do so love this term you have coined!

I do hope your sister enjoys the photos! And I wish I could claim credit for the term TCK, but it was coined by someone else long before I ever used it. The first time I ever heard it, I was in high school, and I had lived my whole life as a TCK, without even knowing it! If you’d like to read more information on TCKs, there’s a wonderful site/blog you could go to: http://libbystephens.com/third-culture-kids I’ve been there before, and even contacted her; her work is fascinating to me. Hope this can be of interest to you or perhaps your siblings. Thanks again for your kind comments, and I look forward to hearing from you again, or maybe from your sister too!

Thank you so very much for sending me this link Dounia…I have visited it and find it very interesting…what is comforting is the fact that so much of it is easy to relate to, understand and know how many of us are out there 🙂

You’re very welcome! I’m very happy you enjoyed it. I know that it was very comforting for me to read things I could relate to so much, but also understand on such an important level, and that there’s always someone out there who know what it’s like. 🙂

Hello Shama, I wanted to come over and thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave your lovely, encouraging words. I didn’t know what to expect on your blog page. But I surely didn’t expect a world traveller! I guess for someone who has never left India, save a trip to Nepal; it sounds so very exciting and adventurous and fortunate. Could I be anymore jealous? I will be back to read more of your world travels.
